ABOUT THE STUDIO
From the heart of her home Studio in Dublin, Basta creates very unique oil pieces to each it's own story. Often referencing worldwide cultures in many ages, her work reflects her artistic vision of humans, especially women.
Individual empowerment is the biggest philosophy she believes in, and having engaged subjects as diverse as life passion, female energy, intimate moments, music and cozy architecture, her work reproduces familiar visual scenes.

MEET THE ARTIST
MARIAN BASTA
Growing up in the fast paced, heated and energetic Cairo, Egypt, the ancient Egyptian art alongside the Coptic iconography art in monasteries left a great impact on Basta’s art style. The eyes are very wide expressive gazes, the blocky body structures, the static blocky nature and vibrant colors.
She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, Egypt. Over her 5 Years of study, she got exposure to different art fields. She started her career as a commercial Graphic designer in Cairo before moving to Cork, Ireland in 2018 where it didn’t take her long to discover her passion for oil painting.
She started practicing oil medium and was able to develop a very unique and signature art style of her own derived from great pillars of cubism like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.
She exhibited at Art Source 2022 in the RDS, Dublin and will be there in 2023, in addition to many group exhibitions like BeFrame, WestEnd, K-Fest, Sample Studios exhibition and Killarney Rotary Club.
One of her paintings "Mid Summer's Lava" was pre-selected in the RUA and she got many PR coverage like NewsTalk with Bobby Kerr, RedFM and CorkBEO.
Her Solo Exhibition “Unbound Voyages” took place at WestEnd Studios in Mallow, Co. Cork in August 2023.
